Making our own non GMO feed.
This year we started making our own feed. We decided to do this for a multitude of reasons, the main reason being that we know exactly what is going into our animals! This process has helped us grow, we have established relationships with other farmers that are committed to growing non GMO grains. It's nice to catch other farmers perspectives and beliefs who think and farm similar to us. I'm not sure if a closed loop or total sustainability is an attainable goal for us or any farmer doing what we do but making our own feed is definitely a step in the right direction. Look for us in the next couple of years to be growing all of our own grain as well! We are already growing all of the grass for our cattle. Soon we will attempt to grow all of the soy beans, corn, oats, rye, and speltz as well. Of course we will do all this organic!
